Everything you need to know about RecallScout, supplier risk monitoring, and how to get started.
RecallScout is a supplier risk intelligence platform that monitors 10 regulatory databases — including FDA, USDA FSIS, CFIA, Health Canada, EU RASFF, UK FSA, FDA Cosmetics, CPSC, FDA Device, and MHRA — and cross-references them against your specific supplier network in real time. It is designed for food and beverage manufacturers, CPG brands, pharmaceutical companies, and supply chain compliance teams.
When you upload your supplier list (via CSV or manual entry), RecallScout runs each supplier name through a fuzzy matching engine that cross-references against 28,000+ recall records. The engine accounts for name variations, abbreviations, subsidiary relationships, and common formatting differences.
Each supplier receives a composite Risk Score from 0 to 100, weighted across four signals: recall class severity (Class I = highest weight), recall frequency (number of incidents in the past 36 months), recency (incidents in the past 12 months weighted more heavily), and product category risk (some categories have higher baseline recall rates).
RecallScout runs scheduled ingestion jobs every 6 hours against all 10 regulatory databases. FDA and USDA FSIS data is typically available within minutes of a public recall announcement. EU RASFF and UK FSA notifications are pulled on the same cadence.
United States: FDA (food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices), USDA FSIS (meat, poultry, and egg products). Canada: CFIA (food), Health Canada (food, health products, cosmetics, consumer products). European Union: EU RASFF (food and feed alerts across 30+ member states). United Kingdom: UK FSA (food and allergy alerts), MHRA (medicines recalls). Australia/NZ: FSANZ. France: RappelConso. Germany: BVL.
A recall is a formal, public action issued by a regulatory agency after a safety issue has been confirmed. A Crisis Signal is a pre-recall indicator — an early warning that a problem may be developing before the formal announcement. RecallScout monitors FDA Warning Letters, Import Alerts, and enforcement actions as Crisis Signals.
